Geometry Dash Yatagarasu is an Extreme Demon mega-collab level with a mythological theme, terrifying difficulty, and a breakthrough in Geometry Dash 2.0.

What is Geometry Dash Yatagarasu?

The Origins of Yatagarasu

Built by a massive collaboration led by Viprin and Riot, validated and distributed by TrusTa, this level is widely regarded as the "final Demon of 2.0" and is named after the mythological three-legged crow of Japanese legend, Yatagarasu. Contemplated initially as a spiritual successor to the mythical Bloodbath, Yatagarasu pushes the boundaries of difficulty, creativity, and visual storytelling in platforming design.

Mythology Behind the Name

The term "Yatagarasu" refers to a three-legged crow of Japanese myth with divine intervention. It is an emblem of rebirth, foresight, and divine will. The symbol is employed in the game as the common theme for a level that challenges not just a player's reaction time but also their stamina and ability. The darks, the fiery reds, and the vicious visuals are owed to the legend and the ridiculously difficult nature of the level.

Yatagarasu's History and Legacy

Bloodbath to Yatagarasu

The idea behind Yatagarasu formed in late 2015 as a mega-collab sequel to The Hell Factory, which itself was a spiritual sequel to Cataclysm and Bloodbath. Its development brought together more than 20 top creators, including legendary names like Michigun, Surv, FunnyGame, and Loogiah. Despite delays, hacking controversies, and creator changes, the project stayed alive, eventually verified by TrusTa and released in early 2017.

Achievements and Community Recognition

Yatagarasu was once placed at #1 on the Geometry Dash Demonlist, even above Sonic Wave, and was awarded Best Demon Megacollab in the Geometry Dash 2.0 Awards. It has no coins, but its difficulty level, artwork, and gameplay make it an iconic part of Geometry Dash history. It's a rite of passage for many of the community's top players when it comes to learning Extreme Demon.

Gameplay & Design Highlights

Fast-Paced and Visually Stunning Challenges

Geometry Dash Yatagarasu contains 87,707 objects and takes nearly 3 minutes of continuous gameplay. Starting with a dark ship segment, players are instantly immersed in an atmosphere of danger and elegance. The transitions are rapid, with frequent gravity shifts, mini-object phases, and ultra-tight wave paths. The famous 79-84% section features high-speed mode switches from mini-ship to ball, then mini-ball, and back to mini-ship - a nightmare for even elite players.

Legendary Difficulty and Unique Mechanics

Yatagarasu is more than simply spikes and saws. It also includes visual tricks, hidden triggers, and sync-based traps. It's also got soft background cues, hair-trigger memory checks, and timing combinations requiring pixel-perfect precision. It's a level that pushes the limits of conventional gameplay, often mashing up art and rhythm in ways that few levels manage.

How to Play Geometry Dash Yatagarasu

Just like in every Geometry Dash level, Yatagarasu utilizes easy one-button gameplay - jump by pressing, tapping, or clicking the spacebar. Don't be fooled by the ease, however. Every aspect of this level has some surprises in store for you:

  • In ship mode, hold to fly up and release to drop.
  • Jump higher on yellow pads, and higher yet on blue pads.
  • Tap the yellow rings at the right moment to initiate jumps.
  • Steer clear of spikes, saw blades, and gravity traps at all costs.
  • Use Practice Mode to acclimate yourself to the 20+ segments.

The level requires fast reflexes, body muscle memory, and mental endurance. Each mistake sends you back, so success often demands hours, if not days, of practice.

Are you brave enough to face the divine crow? Take on Geometry Dash Yatagarasu and test the very limits of your rhythm, vision, and control. Only the most elite can claim victory in this legendary mega-collab. Let the wings of Yatagarasu carry you - or consume you.
