Pocket Chess

2 votes 4.3/5

I love classic chess. But sometimes, a full match takes way too long. That is why I started playing Pocket Chess. This game is completely different. It takes the best parts of chess and turns them into quick brain teasers. If you are a big fan of Puzzle Games, you will definitely enjoy this one.

About Pocket Chess

Pocket Chess is a puzzle game based on standard chess rules. However, it does not use a huge 8x8 board. Instead, you play on tiny boards like 3x4 or 4x4. The game sets up a specific tactical situation for you.

Your goal is simple. Find the winning move. You must checkmate the enemy king or capture all opponent pieces. It sounds easy. Believe me, it gets very hard quickly!

Guide to Play Pocket Chess

You do not need to be a grandmaster to win. The game tests your logic and tactical vision. If you want the full traditional experience, you can always join a standard game of Chess. But here, speed and sharp eyes matter most.

  • Control Keys: Just click (or tap) the piece you want to move. Then, click the target square. No keyboard shortcuts are needed at all.
  • The Rules: Pieces move exactly like they do in real chess. Knights jump in an L-shape. Rooks move in straight lines. Look at the board, plan your move, and execute it. If you make a mistake, you just restart the level.

How Can I Beat Hard Levels?

I actually got stuck around level 45. The boards get bigger, and the pieces multiply. Here is what I learned from my own gameplay:

  • Watch the Knights: On a tiny 3x4 board, Knights are deadly. They control squares you might not notice. Always check their attack range first.
  • Save Your Coins: You earn coins by beating levels. Do not waste them early on! Save your coins for hints when you reach the really tricky 5x5 boards later in the game.
  • Think Backwards: Look at the enemy king. Where can he escape? Block those squares first before you launch your final attack.
